Derek qualified for the front row of the main A Final and managed to finish second overall which helped the Irishman move up the Championship table to 4th place overall.

Derek drove the Honda Civic Type-R in 2008 when he got his first taste of European Rallycross, the Honda gave Derek his first ERC victory in Poland 2008. The first victory in the ERC for an Irishman in any class.
